Who we are

This website is run by J Hacking Heating & Plumbing Specialist Ltd, 22 Dale View, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB2 4LE. We decide how your details are used, so we're responsible for them under UK data protection law.

If you've a question about your information, email info@jhacking.uk or call 07493 779662.

What we collect and why

When you send an enquiry, we get your name, phone number, email, address and what you need. We use them to get back to you, arrange a visit, quote and do the work.

When you sign up for a service plan, we get your name, phone number, email, address and the plan you've picked. We use them to set up your plan, book your services and remind you when they're due.

When you call, email, text or message us on WhatsApp or Facebook, we use what you send us to help you.

Once you're a customer, we keep a record of your jobs, quotes, invoices and payments, and of any gas safety certificates or service records we issue.

We use your details because you've asked us for a quote, some work or a plan, and because the law asks us to keep some records, like our accounts.

If you've had work from us, we may now and then tell you about our service plans or offers by email or text. You can say no at any time. Just reply or tell us, and we'll stop.

We don't sell your details or pass them to anyone for their own marketing.

Who else handles your details

Your enquiry or plan sign-up goes straight into our job system. These companies run the systems behind it, and see your details only as far as they need to:

  • GSD Lab builds and looks after this website and our job system.
  • Vercel hosts this website and the job system.
  • Supabase stores the job system's records, in London.
  • Resend sends our emails, including the alert we get when you send an enquiry.
  • Twilio sends our text messages.
  • GoCardless collects service plan Direct Debits and payments made from our payment links. You give your bank details to GoCardless, not to us.
  • Anthropic (the company behind Claude) helps us write up leak investigation reports from the engineer's notes.
  • PostHog measures visits to this website, without cookies (more below).
  • Meta runs WhatsApp and Facebook, if you contact us there.

Some of these companies may handle information outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards and contracts those services provide.

Cookies and measuring visits

This website doesn't set cookies.

We count visits with PostHog, which works without cookies and stores nothing on your device. It shows us which pages people read and which ones lead to an enquiry. To tell one visit from another on the same day, it turns your IP address and browser type into a code that changes every day and can't be turned back into either. It doesn't keep your IP address and doesn't tell us who you are. PostHog stores this data in the EU and explains how it handles it at posthog.com/privacy.

How long we keep it

We keep your details while we're dealing with your enquiry or doing work for you. After that, we keep what we need for warranties, gas safety and service records, and our accounts, for as long as the law or those purposes need. Then we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@jhacking.uk and we'll sort it within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
